In a nutshell: Adults only, and mostly older adults, looking for a refined and chill place to unwind in peace.
What I liked about The Balé
My favourite part about The Balé was the fact that it was children-free. (Sorry kids 🙊 I don’t mean nothin’ by it). It just brings with it a sense of peace that you can open up a book by the main pool and the only thing that might interrupt your flow is a cool towel or glass of fresh juice, you know?
It’s also an incredibly aesthetic place. I’d call it a Roman/Balinese vibe… except that I haven’t been to Rome yet so it’s hard for me to say for sure.
Things to note
The resort is in Nusa Dua which is on the southeastern tip of Bali. While it’s not located on the beach, it’s pretty close to it, and you still get the same epic sunrises. It’s about 20 mins away from the airport and just beneath the Bali National Golf Course which was ranked a few years ago as one of the top five golf courses in Asia by Fortune Magazine.
The rooms are nice, clean and simple, and I have in my review notes that it’s been the most bug-less resort I’ve stayed at in Bali so far. Not that I’m against bugs – we all have a purpose in the grander scheme of life – but it’s not fun swatting flies or feeling ants pinch your leg at night either. Each of the 29 villas comes with it’s own private pool and outdoor day bed as well, also surprisingly bug free.
There are two restaurants on site – TAPA Bistro, which serves… tapas. They make this home made tortellini situation that was seriously to die for. And if anyone remembers my old website, you know how much tortellini means to me. TAPA also hosts live jazz and soul musicians throughout the week.
The Spa has a little restaurant of it’s own called Bliss Restaurant, and they serve light and healthy post-treatment dishes. There’s also the main hotel restaurant called Faces, which serves pretty much everything. I never ate in that restaurant itself though, just ordered day bed service.
Worth it?
For older adults especially, yes. If you like Palm Springs, you’ll like The Balé. Younger couples will have a good time too but it does have a 40yr+ vibe.
